We are thrilled to announce that Farnborough Road Infant School in Southport has made a generous donation of £400 to Time for Bed after selecting us as their Charity of the Year. This marks the first time a school has pledged its support for our cause in this special way.
Throughout the year, the children at Farnborough Road Infant School engaged in a variety of fundraising activities, showing incredible enthusiasm and dedication to our mission. Their creative efforts included crafting Time for Bed-themed Christmas decorations for their local church Christmas tree festival, holding toast mornings, and even participating in a pyjama day to raise awareness for Time for Bed.
The decision to support our charity was made by the school’s council, which includes both pupils and teachers, following an inspiring presentation about our work.
Jennifer Sephton, Head Teacher of Farnborough Road Infant School, expressed her pride in the students’ efforts:
“When we learned about Time for Bed and their work providing beds for children in Liverpool, we were really keen to get involved and our school council agreed, making Time for Bed our charity for the year.
“It’s easy to take a bed for granted but as a teacher, I’ve seen the negative effects on children who live day to day without a bed of their own. I’m pleased that we could get involved and help to support children who otherwise would have to go without.”
Julie Lavigne, Fundraising Manager at Time for Bed, added:
“We were so pleased when Farnborough Road Infant School decided to make Time for Bed their Charity of the Year. There are thousands of children in the Liverpool City region who go to sleep every night without a bed of their own.
“We aim to make sure that every child has a comfortable and safe place to sleep at night, but we cannot do that without support, and it’s schools like Farnborough that help us make a real difference. I want to encourage other schools to do the same.”
