Supporting families through better sleep

Background: Breaking barriers to stability

At Time for Bed, we understand that a good night’s sleep is essential for a child’s well-being, education, and overall happiness. Recently, a school learning mentor reached out to us after identifying low-income families struggling financially.

For these families, the lack of a proper bed for their children was more than just an inconvenience—it was a significant barrier to developing positive routines at home. Parents felt immense pressure, and the resulting stress negatively impacted their mental health, well-being, and overall ability to parent effectively.

How Time for Bed helped

Acting quickly on the school’s referral, we provided brand-new single bed bundles, ensuring that each child had a comfortable and secure place to sleep. Each bundle included a high-quality mattress, duvet, pillow, and cosy bedding, helping to create a warm and stable sleeping environment.

The positive impact

The impact of this simple yet powerful intervention has been transformative:

  • Improved attendance and punctuality – With structured bedtime routines now in place, children are arriving at school on time and ready to learn.
  • Increased focus and engagement – Teachers report that students are more alert and attentive in class, helping to support their learning and academic progress.
  • Happier families – Parents feel more in control, with reduced stress and improved mental well-being.
  • Stronger home-school relationships – Communication between families and school staff has improved, creating a more supportive and collaborative environment for the children.

School staff have noticed a remarkable shift in the children’s attitude and well-being, highlighting how something as simple as a bed can make a world of difference.

One mum was amazed with the improvement in their child’s wellbeing after being provided with a bed:

“The change has been dramatic! She sleeps better and her behaviour has improved as a result, which is helping in school as well. It’s made a real difference.”

Help us create a brighter future
